This past week was filled with many, many new beginnings for our family…
I left my first ever library position, in a school that was like a second family to me. I am grateful beyond
words for the opportunity to have been their librarian for six school years. I learned so much about the world of children’s literature, libraries, and most importantly, myself.
I started as a full time librarian in a new district at two very different but equally amazing elementary schools. There is a LOT to learn about the circ system, the schools, the students and staff but I am so excited about this new adventure!
My boys started 5th & 9th grades!! (what?!?!?!) I’ve already met all of their teachers and I am very impressed! I was able to reconnect with a high school friend after more than 10 years who teaches at the high school too and was even more reassured that our decision to join this community was the right one.
Monday also marked my first semester as a full-time college student in more than 15 years! I and was completely overwhelmed, but I am starting to figure things out…Thankfully some classes are short term and all work will be done in class. I still have my work cut out for me!
Tuesday morning I wrote my first ever 45 minute lesson plans for kindergartenn library! Then I met with two classes that afternoon to talk about the library, read Library Lion go on a lion hunt, and transition to tables to color a lion picture. This was also their first full day of school…ever! And…they did really, really well!
I am so excited about these new beginnings and all they will bring!
